There’s a sense that Wisconsin is moving in many directions at once. Over the course of the last several months, 10 aspiring journalists in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Wisconsin-Madison sifted and winnowed, each delving into different disciplines to better understand a specialized corner of the state. Under the direction of our editor and instructor, Stacy Forster, we covered everything from agriculture, to education to the environment.

Through each of these in-depth pieces, we have mapped Wisconsin’s most pressing issues, as well as the diverse and sometimes controversial approaches state leaders and grassroots organizations have offered up as solutions.

With that, we hope this site gives its readers a sense of where Wisconsin has been, where it is now and the direction it’s heading.
